(January 2010 - Columbus) The Columbus Stompers are already in rehearsals for the 2010 IAGLCWDC Hoedown competition. The teams hit the official dance floor Memorial Day weekend in Austin, Texas. This year, the Stompers are entering two teams: one in the Open Division and one in the Line Dancing Division.
Each dance division has specific rules and requirements for choreography, music, the use of props and costumes. Choreography in the Line Dance Division may include "hands or bodies [that] may touch momentarily. However, movements exhibiting partnership or partnership intent are not allowed." The Open Division has the most freedom because the division rules say, "There are no restrictions on music selection, attire, or dance style other than the use of violent or vulgar movements."
Each team has to create a routine four to seven minutes long.
The Open Division team began rehearsals in December 2009 and the Line Division team began rehearsals in January 2010. The competition is only five months away! Time to get busy!
